Unlike some other holiday destinations in this part of the Med, Mastichari has not lost any of its easygoing Hellenic character. While the few beach bars dotted about its gloriously pristine beach hint at Mastichari's nod to tourism, this is one place that still looks and feels resolutely Greek. This means that you can be pretty sure you'll be unpacked and relaxing on the beach within an hour of picking up your bags from the airport.

Without doubt, you could easily spend each and every day of your holiday swimming and snorkelling in the azure waters and topping up your tan on the sand. If you do get the urge to venture further afield though, you can always take an equally tranquil boat trip to explore the secluded coves on the neighbouring islands of Kalymnos and Pserimos, or explore the island's cosmopolitan capital, Kos Town.
