FAQs - booking Wales flights

  • I’m flexible with my departure city. Which English airport offers the most direct flights to Wales?

If you are looking for a direct flight to Wales from England, Newcastle International Airport (NCL) is the best option. If you’d prefer an airport with more flight options and good public transportation links, select flights to Wales from London Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted or Luton, or from Manchester Airport (MAN) or Birmingham Airport (BHX). Keep in mind that flying out of these airports requires at least one stopover.

  • I’m booking a flight to Wales from London. Which airport should I depart from?

Regardless of which London airport you’re flying out of, a flight to Wales will usually involve a stopover in Edinburgh or Glasgow. Occasionally, some flights to Wales might also have a stopover in Belfast City Airport. If you prefer less busy airports when flying, you might like to choose a flight that departs from London City (LCY) or London Southend Airport (SEN) and has a stopover in Glasgow.

  • I’m travelling to Swansea. Which airport should I choose?

Although Swansea does have an airport, it’s not served by commercial flights. The closest airport in Wales to be served by commercial flights is Cardiff Airport (40 mi). Alternatively, if you're looking for a nearby airport with more options when it comes to airlines and flights, you can search for flights that land in the English city of Bristol, and drive (2h 10min) or take public transportation (2h 30min) from the airport to Swansea.

  • Which airport in Scotland is the best to book a direct flight to Wales from?

If you value direct flights, you can choose between Edinburgh Airport and Glasgow International Airport. Of the two, Glasgow is the least busy airport, but Edinburgh is the most centrally located. Aberdeen Airport (ABZ) can be considered as a third alternative, but it’s not served by direct flights to Wales, which means you’d have to factor in a stopover in one of the other Scottish airports or elsewhere in the United Kingdom.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from the United Kingdom to Wales?

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from the United Kingdom to Wales?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional return ticket. You could then fly from the United Kingdom to Wales with an airline and back with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from the United Kingdom to Wales?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying from the United Kingdom to Wales up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

Everything! Not sure if there's really anything that could make it any better

Very quick trip from Southampton to Edinburgh Arrival a long way from baggage and up 3flights of stairs no lifts or escalators

I appreciate that KLM was proactive in informing me of the 2 hour delay which enabled me to replan my travel. It was a bit stressful not knowing whether my connection from Montreal to Ottawa was happening. But the ground and air crew did a good job at comforting and assuring me.

Cabin crew professional, polite and friendly, boarding was seemless, but come on KLM surely you can do better than a pack of cheesy biscuits as an inflight snack

Cabin crew were excellent, very proffesional, polite and friendly, in flight snack was underwhelming, a packet of cheese biscuits, im sure KLM could run to a sandwich!

Legroom not all it could be, especially when the seat in front is reclined. Otherwise it was good, food and beverage were nice.

You should not have to pay for WiFi in business class

Transfer at Amsterdam airport is very convenient and the airport is easy to navigate. Boarding was also quick and easy. Cabin crew were excellent and the meals were good, although lacking in options.

This fight left ahead of time which meant it arrived early which was great. Staff were very professional, but as with all these Short hop Flights the food was a disappointing snack There was no entertainment on this flight, but I did not expect any

I flew premium economy and this was a good option. Although the seats didn’t recline much, I was able to get some sleep with my head propped against the window. The food was good and the entertainment was wonderful The staff were very attentive and professional

They only had vegetarian food left on the flight which I wasn’t happy about. I didn’t get any food to eat at all.

Great boarding, great short flight but no entertainment whatsoever and no wifi. Prepare to disembark by a staircase.

It was ok not that much because I always travel with Emirates airlines, Etihad, airlines, Qatar airlines compare to them food and comfortable was too low . Staff was good . Helpful

I believe it was short flight in plane I understand not that much compared to other airlines but weighting for checkin was too long need extra person for checkin or Atleast someone to let the customer knows don’t worry someone will be here shortly.

Noted in last review. Good to know, though air Lingus on European flights does not offer any food or drink, even though we were on the plane for 3 1/2 hours from Naples to Dublin everything you had to purchase even water.

Seats were alarming close to the row in front of you. I didn’t do the measurements online, which I’m sure they’re available, but it seemed much tighter than other planes, but the airplane itself was well maintained and looked fairly new. My only complaint on the staff was that we’re on an international flight. Normally they give you wine with dinner and the flight attendant decided to pull some strict restrictions and wouldn’t give more than one glass of wine per person, and you could not share with your spouse, which seemed ridiculous when we have four people on the plane with us and only one person ordered wine asked for a second one and she said oh absolutely not. It’s only one per person Which on a transcontinental usually is not the case. They’re very attentive on making sure everyone is as comfortable as possible.

Boarding seemed a bit chaotic and we had to walk outside across the tarmac. Passengers of all ages had to drag carry on luggage up the outside stairway into the aircraft. There was no WiFi. Very uncomfortable crammed seats. Glad in-air time was only an hour!

Booked through Kayak, couldnt take flight, Kayak punted to Orbiz, Orbiz punted to Aer Lingus, Aer Lingus said sorry about your luck, try Kayak/Orbiz. Terrible customer service collecting air fares and not even offering a voucher when customers cant take flight

Very polite and helpful staff. Jet blue…ok, but not as helpful!..

Seat was very uncomfortable. The worst in all of my travels. It sagged in the middle, worse than anything any airline can offer. Not flying aer lingus again.

This flight was delayed and caused me to miss my connecting flight from New York to Boston. I had to rent a car and drive myself home to avoid waiting another 5 hours in the airport.

My Aer Lingus flight (booking ref # 2SU4LF) was the worst travel experience I have ever dealt with. My flight from Paris to Dublin was delayed by over 2 hours which caused me to miss my connecting flight back to the US. I was not able to be rebooked on a new flight for another 3 days. When I finally made it on my rescheduled flight, it was delayed AGAIN, causing me to miss my connecting flight from New York to Boston. At this point I decided to just rent a car since the next flight I would have been able to get in wasn’t for another 5 hours. It was a complete nightmare experience and I will never fly Aer Lingus again. I have requested a refund from the booking company I placed my order with.

We were charged a ridiculous amount for a name spelling error on ticket which I would’ve corrected if I received pre-check info more than 1/2hr before flight. Then we were told at ticket counter that our bags were fine for boarding but then we’re charged another ridiculous amount to take in our luggage despite being told differently. Flight itself was great. Charges were unfair.

Apart from an email about re configuring passenger seating less than 24hrs before flying it was all good.

There were a lot (4 I think) of EasyJet flights leaving Agadir, we arrived two and a half ours before our flight. Very slow to get through the booking in, passport control and security!! We had booked in on line but had to Queue with others who had not to drop our bags off!,

We boarded and then sat on the tarmac for an hour….probably not E Jets fault. But the gentleman that checked us in and took our luggage was exceptionally friendly and calming for early morning/ confused passengers. As always, it’s the people that make or break an experience, right?

I was hesitant to book with a low cost airline due to previous experience but Easy Jet surpassed my expectations. I would definitely book a flight with them again! Seemless booking, upfront about baggage fees, professional, and helpful staff.

Kayak sent several notifications that the flight was late. This contradicted the information on the airport boards. This was extremely confusing and we very nearly missed the flight purely because we double checked with the info desk when the flight stays said’closed’. Kayak notifications are therefore unreliable and pointlesa

Usual issues with flight delay. Perennial problem of travel by plane.

i didnt go this was a hacker booked this flight on my debit card !

Delayed almost 2 hours sitting on plane. No updates at all from flight deck and virtually no updates from cabin crew

Long delay resulted in my being unable to catch a train home and resulted in an additional £76 cost for an Uber

I bought my flight, insurance etc early and paid over £200. But had i waited until closer the time the price was much cheaper, i appreciate that it could've been more expensive but it wasn't. A better discount for booking early would be better than your current one

Awful as usual the air stewardess loved her own voice and would not stop talking on coms for 2hrs please please please shut up I can’t hear my headphones and don’t want to buy juty free

Big delay on run way not much explanation why, missed a important meeting in Dublin, maybe if they did nt persist measuring everyone bag over 2 cm we would have got off on time.

ontime and super quick boarding and disembarking. I made it in 6 min from airplane through passport control to the train platformin Cologne. Amazingly quick airport.

The lady at the boarding gate was so rude. She was challenging people being in priority and looking them up and down as if they weren’t dressed for first class. This was Ryan air priority. We all sit in the same seats. She loudly called out to embarrass a man who she believed had cheated and got in the priority line. He had a valid priority ticket and even worked for Ryanair. Also challenging visas insisting people download them until they proved on the government website it wasn’t required to print. The Ryanair employee who was challenged said she is always like this. She also pulled people from regular boarding as they were fashionably dressed and upgraded them to priority and changed their seats. That was comical. I think she felt she should be working for Emirates first class, although they would t have stood for her rude behaviour

On time boarding, on time departure and early arrival. As it should be. Yes, the comfort and benefits are very poor, but therefore the ticket is 6 times cheaper than with a flag carrier. So I am not complaining about it. You get what you pay for.

There plane had a technical pricken so we had to disembark, but the replacement aircraft was provided within one hour so there was not much delay.

Miserable staff did not want to be there. Very poor atmosphere boarding. Then just basic flight.

Good value for the money. Good leg room. Take off and landing very good.

Seats are very small, I’m not a big person, but the person beside me was using his seat and half of mine… and this person was a bit gross but not a lot…
