FAQs - booking Queensland flights

  • I’m looking for a flight to Hamilton Island. Which airports should I choose?

Your initial flight from the United Kingdom will depart either from Manchester Airport (MAN) or London Heathrow (LHR), so if you’re flying from elsewhere you’ll need to plan for an extra flight or alternative method of transport to one of these airports. From Manchester and London, you can fly to either Brisbane Airport or Cairns Airport with a stopover in an Asian city. Hong Kong is typically one of the most popular destinations for a stopover. From Brisbane or Cairns, you’ll have to catch a domestic flight to Hamilton Island Airport (HTI), which is operated by local airline Qantas Airways.

  • Which airport in Queensland is the closest to Port Douglas?

Port Douglas isn’t served by its own airport, but the closest is Cairns Airport, around a 50min drive away. Although you can opt to rent a car and drive yourself, after a long flight to Queensland it might be more comfortable to book a private transfer in advance.

  • I’m booking a flight to Queensland to visit the Outback. Which airports do I choose?

It depends on which one of the five main towns in the Outback Queensland area you are planning to visit. Each one of them has its own regional airport with regular flights from Brisbane. Those airports are Charleville Airport (CTA), Mount Isa Airport (ISA), Birdsville Airport (BVI), Blackall Airport (BKQ), and Longreach Airport (LRE). Mount Isa also has regular flights from Cairns operated by local carriers QantasLink and Regional Express Airlines.

  • Which airport in Queensland is the best for travelling to Coolangatta?

Coolangatta is served by the Gold Coast Airport, less than 5min away by car. This airport is a hub for Jetstar Airways, which operates regular flights from London via Tokyo. If you don't mind an extra stopover, Air France also operates flights from London with a first stopover in Paris and the second stopover in Tokyo.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from the United Kingdom to Queensland?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from the United Kingdom to Queensland.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from the United Kingdom to Queensland?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight from the United Kingdom to Queensland is likely to change within 7 days, so travellers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from the United Kingdom to Queensland?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional return ticket. You could then fly from the United Kingdom to Queensland with an airline and back with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from the United Kingdom to Queensland?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying from the United Kingdom to Queensland up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

We were not given option for meals since they ran out of the other option but good thing the remaining options tasted great.

Horrendous. We upgraded and they took the money but cancelled one of our tickets. The recline action didn’t work on the seats for the flight from Singapore to London, pre booked meals but they seemed to have disappeared as well.. Phone customer service was horrendous. Took 5 phone calls and no fix. Craig at the airport was the only one who seemed to be able to get the ticket back.

The seat in economy class and legroom in Singapore airline are narrower than Korean airlines! I don’t have that comforting feeling flying with Singapore air as in the past!

Food could have been better. Too many passengers getting up and down all the time.

It was very good experience on board to Sydney with SQ.

Check in was easy through self-check-in kiosks just like domestic flights. Staff onboard were fantastic. Some "book the cook" good options weren't great, others really good. Entertainment options a bit limited to what I've experienced on Qantas. Overall a good flight though, especially for the price.

The staff on Singapore Airlines was incredible. I would like to commend LS Reuben from my SQ37 flight on November 19th, 2024, from LAX to Singapore, for his outstanding service and care. During the flight, one of my earbuds—brand new and valued at nearly $300—fell out and became lodged in the box controlling the in-flight entertainment system. I was understandably upset, but Reuben went above and beyond to assist me in this tough situation. Reuben demonstrated exceptional determination and empathy. Instead of suggesting we wait for an engineer, he immediately took action, spending almost 30 minutes searching for the earbud. He even got down on the floor to ensure it was recovered. His genuine concern and persistence made all the difference and turned a frustrating situation into one where I felt truly valued as a passenger. Reuben is a shining example of the remarkable service that sets Singapore Airlines apart. His dedication and willingness to go the extra mile left a lasting impression, and I want to sincerely thank him for his kindness and professionalism.

I was a member of Krisflyer for ten years, but my last flight to Tokyo was a disaster. I had to stand in line for four hours before check-in because they were late opening the counter, and there were more than 50 people behind me. The plane was extremely small, and the food could have been better. When I dropped off my stroller before boarding the plane, I expected to receive it upon exiting for my transfer. However, they returned the stroller to the checked baggage because they said I was late getting off the plane. Of course, I was late; they assigned me a seat at the back of the aircraft, and I was traveling with a baby! The worst part was when I arrived in Jakarta. They damaged my stroller and refused to approve my claim, so I had to pay for stroller rental because of the damage they caused. I don’t know what happened to Singapore Airlines, but I felt like I was flying with a budget airline.

Crews were very caring and polite. Washroom was surprisingly clean. Overall experience was good , only food choices was very limited. Thanks

The crew have great customer service but their economy seating isn’t the most comfortable for a 220lbs+ guy and the food wasn’t bad, but wasn’t exceptional, either.

We arrived in line for check in at 6:15 p.m. but did not check in until 8:00 p.m. The line for economy check in was very long, and all of the desks 03-13 were not open, although most of them opened sporadically. The crew on board were very nice and helpful, friendly and kind. It has been many years since we flew Emirates (at least 17 years), and we notice that foot rests are no longer available in economy, but we were lucky enough to fly in the upper deck and appreciate your opening some of your flights to economy passengers in the upper deck. We will definitely fly on emirates more often! Thank you.

Except for the uncleaned tray, and the delay in serving food for our section (which may have been due to the location of our row) everything else was good. The crew were very professional and responded to our requests promptly throughout the flight. We as a family were not disappointed by Emirates.

Very uncomfortable aircraft. No free entertainment or drinks. Food okay. Won't fly with them again.

Excellent comfort and entertainment. Service poor..Food average with little choice.

Comfort good. Service as usual poor. Cabin temperature as usual too cold, about 15 degrees

The plane seemed pretty old and the food was not good

Emirates is always a pleasure to travel on. From the spectacular First and Business Class configurations of your big A380 and 777, to the Bar Lounge to, of course, your impecable on board flight attendance and their iconic uniform, now also even available for young girls. All the destinations that Emirates offers makes it an airline of choice many a time.

The entire crew went above and beyond. This was our first flight with our 3 month old, and they were accommodating and friendly. The crew is attentive and marks a HIGE difference to the regular runs with Avianca and LATAM.

Flight attendants were great. Comfort of seat and lie down bed pretty good. Food was very mediocre. Wine was good (red French wine) although I should have taken advantage of having more! :-) it was too late on the flight From znz—I was tired…then too early from Dubai. Woman sitting behind me dropped a full bag of garbage on my head while I was sleeping…orange peels, wet partially eaten food and very smelly food garbage which I literally had to pick out of my hair, off my face and away from my pillow. Not the airlines fault but still a very unpleasant experience.

The food was amazing on our flight. So many options for movies and shows to stay entertained for 12 hours.

Worst experience I have ever had with any airline in over 25 years.

I have a Peanut Allergy and the Steward staff were very accommodating in ensuring my safety as my allergy is life threatening. Very professional and so vested in their profession.

Crew was great. But a bit understaffed. The business class seat, etc were dated. But comfortable. Some legs had entertainment system from a decade ago. Selections were rather poor. Food was mediocre at best. Actually poor for business class standards. I liked the lounge in Hong Kong. Showers were great. Food was nice.

Everything was fine and I have no complaints or things to note.

The flight was delayed for 30 mins. The overall experience was good.

The economy seats are much indeed roomier. Meals needs improvement.

When comes to Taiwan airlines China airlines is the best rest are pure trash

Baggage delayed for 2 days and still chasing for reimbursement of basis items. Very horrible customer care service.

Horrible airline. Missed my baggage and don’t want to reimburse for the basis items. Pathetic customer service

Horrible. No good food. Baggage missed to onboard and came after a day. No support to compensate the delay. Customer care cannot see the status of the complaint. No reply of the email.

The Qatar Airways staff pre-boarding and also on the flight from Dallas to Doha were incredibly mediocre and arrogant. Consider retraining these individuals Other flights were ok.

Seating is terrible, having seats so crammed is unacceptable for a 15-hour journey. I cannot stress enough how uncomfortable it is to sit in such an aircraft. Leg space is roomier in a domestic aircraft. I have not experienced this kind of crammy seating in domestic flights either in the US or other international airlines overseas.

Very unimpressed that I was dumped from the seat I had booked and paid for after check in. Apparently a family wanted to sit together, however as they all were adults I think they should have pre booked their seats like I did. I will be approaching Qatar for a refund. That and the dreadful state of the flooding toilets made me wonder how they managed to be voted the best airline. Not worth the money.

Doha airport is huge , takes long time to reach gate .

The rows of seats in economy class are seriously close to one another making eating and resting just about impossible - there is hardly any legroom. Anyone larger than average size would have an incredibly uncomfortable flight. I had to basically share my seat with the lady passenger next to me as she was too big to fit into her allotted seat.

Food was good, attendants were friendly. Seats were not comfortable. Did not receive any amenities such as eyemask or earplugs that would have helped sleep. Additionally a large group of passengers boarded very late into boarding and were a disruption for almost the whole flight. Flight attendants did their best but the kids were making so much noise, kicking seats, and half the time no adult was sat with them so they weren’t being managed.

Operated by American Airlines. Very chaotic and the crew was bit rough responding any enquiries. Restricted leg space.. Qatar would have been better

It was a really long flight from Doha to Philadelphia and it was overall a good one. The one area that I would comment on is that there is a lot of single-use plastic and disposables in the meal service for American Airlines. It would be great to see more circular options in the meal service to reduce the amount of waste.

I staff or crew they were very friendly and humbly, they done theirs service very well, I appreciate them and thank you to the company or Qatar 🇶🇦 Government for providing as good service in their flight ,once again, thank you 😊 🙏 😀 😉 👍

Overall it was a very good experience. Boarding was efficient and well organized. The cabin crew were excellent. The meals were tasty and quite filling. The warm bread rolls were a nice touch. Seats were comfortable even if they were a little narrow. Entertainment selection was excellent.

LCY airport is an amazing airport and I love the flight from LCY to FRA with BA. Efficient, easy, comfortable and great luggage allownace with BA. I iused to fly predominantley LH, but the service and price - benefit ratio of Lufthansa has deteriorated a lot over the last 5 years. Whereas BA keeps an excellent service level with friendly staff.

Flight Attendant Karen Lynn was an absolute delight. She assisted in every portion of the services provided throughout the flight, aided with any and all concerns expressed by passengers, and even helped comfort an upset child who was one of five of a traveling family. This quality of service is what keeps me coming back to American. Thank you!

The airplane was old. Some things didn’t work out of middle seat was broken. The rest was OK.

The worst, flight cancelled because the aircraft was not full. Heathrow ground crew totally not helpful and arrogant. Lady proposed us flight with 40min layover instead of direct and said it is our problem of course she was unable to do anything as everything was beyond her control she claimed. after calling on hotline another flight was booked. Flight was cancelled last second so we could not take direct from Zurich but we had to stay overnight in London.

I have noticed that the airlines, including this flight, pretend there is going to be turbulence, announce such, and say they can’t do beverage service. There is no turbulence and the seat belt light goes off 10 minutes before they ask for tray tables up and seat belts back on. They are just trying to spend less money and it’s quite transparent

Very quick boarding. I was surprised we only got a small water and small thing of cookies, everything else was for purchase. No entertainment. Crew was excellent though.

Flight delayed in terms of boarding and Kayak was great in updating but the team on the groping at British Airways were really poor

A basic tea/ coffee and a snack could be provided especially for long distance flyers.

The information in the airport, and the app was different. Be aware. Different terminals in Stuttgart, so we had to walk a lot. It's a small airport so it wasn't a big deal, but it was ludicrous to see the error in the app.

Flight was delayed and there was boarding pass and flight information errors resulting in confusion and stress
