FAQs for booking flights from Sofia to London

  • Can I fly non-stop from Sofia (SOF) to London?

There are several non-stop flight routes from Sofia to major London airports. You can fly directly from Sofia Airport into London Stansted, London Gatwick, and London Luton. However, if you want to arrive at London Heathrow or London Luton, you will have to make one stopover en route.

  • Is self-check-in available at Sofia Airport?

Self-check-in services are available in Terminal 2 at Sofia Airport. This means that self-check-in is available to those flying to London with Ryanair, which operates from Terminal 2, but not for those flying with Wizz Air or easyJet, which depart from Terminal 1. It is recommended that you check in at least 2h before your flight is due to depart.

  • What transport is available from London airports?

All 5 of London’s major airports are well-connected to the city centre by rail. Rail travel is one of the fastest ways to get around London. From Stansted, you can take the Stansted Express which departs from the station underneath the main terminal. From here, you can connect with other rail services. The journey to the city centre takes around 40min and costs just under £10. Gatwick Airport is also served by a station located beside its South Terminal.

London Heathrow, London Stansted, London Luton, and London City all have a currency exchange office. The currency exchange at London Luton is available 24/7 and all four of these airports offer a click-and-collect pre-order service, so you can pick up your exchanged currency as soon as you land in London. All five of London’s major airports offer on-site car hire facilities, so you can get your journey underway as soon as you land. At London Heathrow, London Gatwick, and London City, you will find car hire desks located inside the main arrivals terminals. • Where should I fly to if I am staying in south London?

If you are staying in south London, London Gatwick is a convenient option for you to fly to. LGW is London’s most southern airport and is located outside of London city centre, making it a great jumping-off point for southerly towns like Southampton or Bournemouth. You can fly direct from SOF to LGW with easyJet. Alternatively, if you are travelling north after arriving in London, LTN and STN are both situated north of the city.

Seats are quite small, but due to the plane being empty we were aloud to switch seats to have more room

The water was handed out as we were entering the plane, instead of when we are set down and our hands are free of luggage. There was absolutely no food offered from Sofia to London, except a low quality chocolate, which was not delicious. The flight between London and Miami was ok, as far as service and food, but it was absolutely freezing, throughout the whole aircraft, especially in the back seats, I had to cover my head with a scarf, besides using the blanket and still I was feeling extremely uncomfortable. The passengers seating around me shared the same opinion. We did ask for something to be done about it. The gentleman did try to adjust it, but the effect last very short time, and towards the end of the flight it was extremely cold and blowing strong again ….

Cons: "Staff seemed confused and would not let us seat at our assigned seats which we picked in order to accommodate our baby. Instead they put us in an even worse spot and decided to ignore the people that took out seats and left them be."
Cons: "Them actually refunding my flight when I couldn't legally travel due to COVID lockdowns."
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "To add food and to patk the plane at the linkway"

We were charged a ridiculous amount for a name spelling error on ticket which I would’ve corrected if I received pre-check info more than 1/2hr before flight. Then we were told at ticket counter that our bags were fine for boarding but then we’re charged another ridiculous amount to take in our luggage despite being told differently. Flight itself was great. Charges were unfair.

Apart from an email about re configuring passenger seating less than 24hrs before flying it was all good.

There were a lot (4 I think) of EasyJet flights leaving Agadir, we arrived two and a half ours before our flight. Very slow to get through the booking in, passport control and security!! We had booked in on line but had to Queue with others who had not to drop our bags off!,

We boarded and then sat on the tarmac for an hour….probably not E Jets fault. But the gentleman that checked us in and took our luggage was exceptionally friendly and calming for early morning/ confused passengers. As always, it’s the people that make or break an experience, right?

I was hesitant to book with a low cost airline due to previous experience but Easy Jet surpassed my expectations. I would definitely book a flight with them again! Seemless booking, upfront about baggage fees, professional, and helpful staff.

Kayak sent several notifications that the flight was late. This contradicted the information on the airport boards. This was extremely confusing and we very nearly missed the flight purely because we double checked with the info desk when the flight stays said’closed’. Kayak notifications are therefore unreliable and pointlesa

Usual issues with flight delay. Perennial problem of travel by plane.

i didnt go this was a hacker booked this flight on my debit card !

Delayed almost 2 hours sitting on plane. No updates at all from flight deck and virtually no updates from cabin crew

Long delay resulted in my being unable to catch a train home and resulted in an additional £76 cost for an Uber

Awful as usual the air stewardess loved her own voice and would not stop talking on coms for 2hrs please please please shut up I can’t hear my headphones and don’t want to buy juty free

Big delay on run way not much explanation why, missed a important meeting in Dublin, maybe if they did nt persist measuring everyone bag over 2 cm we would have got off on time.

The lady at the boarding gate was so rude. She was challenging people being in priority and looking them up and down as if they weren’t dressed for first class. This was Ryan air priority. We all sit in the same seats. She loudly called out to embarrass a man who she believed had cheated and got in the priority line. He had a valid priority ticket and even worked for Ryanair. Also challenging visas insisting people download them until they proved on the government website it wasn’t required to print. The Ryanair employee who was challenged said she is always like this. She also pulled people from regular boarding as they were fashionably dressed and upgraded them to priority and changed their seats. That was comical. I think she felt she should be working for Emirates first class, although they would t have stood for her rude behaviour

On time boarding, on time departure and early arrival. As it should be. Yes, the comfort and benefits are very poor, but therefore the ticket is 6 times cheaper than with a flag carrier. So I am not complaining about it. You get what you pay for.

I liked nothing. An extremely uncomfortable flight, staff were rude, no ice for my drink. 4 hours of misery

Good value for the money. Good leg room. Take off and landing very good.

Seats are very small, I’m not a big person, but the person beside me was using his seat and half of mine… and this person was a bit gross but not a lot…

all fine - did not have food - there was no entertainment

Long delay was made worse by lack of information and long time in queue waiting for the plane to arrive

expedite passengers through passport control when the airport authorities are processing inefficiently.

Brand new aircraft Airbus 321neo, good seats although no recline (so no arguments with other passengers). Orderly boarding using front and rear aircraft doors for efficiency. Departed on time and artived 25min early. During check in, ground staff are very strict about permitted baggage and carry-on weight and size - you're only allowed what you paid for. Onboard food and beverage prices are a bit high but similar to airport coffee shops.

Boarding was fine, crew professional but not very friendly. Seats are very tight & uncomfortable. 1h delay due to crew change and mechanical issues - no communication whats going on.

Crews are great, chill, good snack sets on offer, I didn't feel they play any annoying budget airline games. I will probably fly with Wizz every chance I get it

If you don't want to pay a lot at check in desk, you need to use online check in tool, but you still need to go to check in desk to have it printed out. Then what's the meaning of "online check in"? Extra security check, as if 9/11 just happened!

After adding baggage costs, and considering the necessity to re-checkin at each stop, and the €50 I was tricked out of for the ridiculous 3 hour min check in, I’ll never fly this very hungry Hungarian airline again!

This airline is routinely voted the worse airline in Europe for good reason. If you have an option, just avoid them.

Everything was great until it came time to pick up our luggage. We arrived in orly airport terminal 1, our luggage arrived in terminal 2. No signs to tell us, we waited for almost an hour before someone figured it out.

All in all is not bad, but the boarding by walking outside in the airport airplanes area in the wind and rain to go up the stairs to board the plane that’s too much inconvenient. Hopefully that will change and we use the normal gates at the airport to board the plane! Thank you!

The plane was 5 1/2 hours late. Scheduled for 19.50 take off - Actual take off 01.30am

The flight was delayed again. I had a bad experience with Wizz Air, and I don't want to travel with them again.

We ordered kids meals - which were not kid friendly at all! (the breakfast that is - scrambled eggs on a bed of spinach and asparagus?)

Uncomfortable seats. Crazy seat assignments separating families when they could easily have put them together. Good communication from pilot about arrival time after delay in departure. Toilet ran out of water in sink. Snack box poor for flight of this length.

The bed in Club class was not very comfortable, everything else was good.

Cancelled flight minutes before boarding. Rescheduled flight was two days later

The flight attendants were EXTREMELY personable and appreciated the service, lights going off after dinner (probably the norm, but I haven’t flown evening overnight flights in a while). Thank you!

Great room between the seats, food was excellent, very comfortable overall and could have stayed on the plane even longer

I have noticed that the airlines, including this flight, pretend there is going to be turbulence, announce such, and say they can’t do beverage service. There is no turbulence and the seat belt light goes off 10 minutes before they ask for tray tables up and seat belts back on. They are just trying to spend less money and it’s quite transparent

Business class seats were very dated on my plane. Very little storage, charging ports were not easily accessible, tv screen kept flopping away. Vegetarian food was disappointing: hardly any protein and severely under-seasoned. Crew was lovely.

The food was ok, but not great. They delayed boarding in Portland and did not enforce group boarding. But the crew was excellent, went above and beyond.

The food was pathetic. There wasn't much leg room and recline space for such a long flight. No tea/ coffee for a 2-3 hour connecting flight without purchasing! Really!?
