KAYAK’s top tips for finding a cheap flight from New York to Memphis

  • If you want to avoid the long queues at JFK airport, consider booking a flight that departs from LaGuardia (LGA) or Newark Airport (EWR). Both airports serve the New York area and handle significantly less passenger traffic and therefore tend to have shorter queues than JFK.
  • Suppose you’re traveling with a pet or service animal. In that case, you can find the pet relief areas at Memphis International Airport (MEM) on the Ground Level of Terminal A immediately after baggage claim. If you’re on Terminal C, there’s another one outside the exit.
  • If you’re flying out of JFK, ensure you arrive at least 4h before your plane departs. Being one of the busiest airports in the country, you will need ample time to get through the long security lines.
  • If you’re looking for specific in-flight services, for example, Wi-Fi, ensure that they are provided on the flight during booking. Different airlines tend to offer various services on separate flights, so it would be helpful to confirm their availability when booking.
  • Consider booking connecting flights instead of direct ones to save on costs. Airlines often charge higher prices for the added convenience you get when flying directly.

leg space better than expected. two washrooms for one plane isn't enough.

Generally good. The aisles have gotten narrower which can slow down boarding. Flight crew was great! Healthier complimentary snacks would be appreciated. Due to earthquake in San Francisco we had to circle in air space for a bit but then had a smooth landing. I laud the flight crew for their patience ;)

We boarded but then sat there waiting on some missed connection people to get on so we sat for about 15 minutes for that. Then we sat again because the passenger manifest was wrong and they had to figure it out before we could leave. That took about another 20 minutes or so. The crew was working hard to figure it out so it’s not their fault. It ended up being a system glitch where someone was upgraded to first class while another person was also in the same seat and it just created a mess that took a little while to figure out. They literally went to every person on the plane asking their names to see who was sitting in the wrong seat. I also hate the entertainment that must be watched on your phone or tablet. Just give us setback screens. It’s so much better. Almost every Delta flight has this now and it is so nice to have them. The crew did a great job. I have no complaints from them. They were very hard working, even with the mishap and a disgruntled passenger.

Had a short delay once we boarded the aircraft in Chicago, but it was fixed in no time flat then we were on our way. The pilot was able to make up the time lost and we landed 5 minute later then schedualed . Great service

The tv monitor in front of my seat was not responding. The flight crew reset it and it still didn’t work.

Maybe add a seat trade app for flyers that didn’t get seats together

There's just no way to sit fully upright and comfortably in these seats. There needs to be 2 more inches of room, and that's not something that only one person on the flight needs - the whole flight needs 2 more inches of room. If that means you sell 6 less seats, so be it. It's too close for anyone. Forcing people to pay for "premium" economy just to get "barely enough space to breathe" isn't really an answer to that.

Flight was delayed from 35 minute delayed aircraft arrival to 90 minute delay causing us to miss international connecting flight on SWISS resulting in 16 hour delay to reach detonation causing significant angst, monetary loss and discomfort. SWISS transfer desk and staff was like robots not willing to help at all.

Everything good until we waited for jet bridge at SFO. Then pilot gets on speaker & said it won’t reach plane- too short, need to go to different gate. Then 5 min later, adjusted plane/jetbridge & all ok?!?
