FAQs - booking Gran Canaria flights

  • What’s the best way to get to Las Palmas city centre from the airport?

Naturally, the most convenient way to get to the city is by airport taxi. The trip only takes around 20 minutes to get to the central areas of Vegueta or Triana, but the cost comes to about €30 (£25.75). The cheapest way is by bus, which you can grab from the bus stop outside the Departures Hall of the terminal building, which run services to San Telmo and Santa Carolina and takes between 30-45 minutes depending on which stop you get off. A one-way should cost between €2.30-€2.95 (£1.97-£2.53).

  • Where can I find car hire at Las Palmas Airport (LPA)?

You can find the car hire desks at LPA in the Arrivals Hall of the terminal, on the ground floor. Once you get through passport control and baggage claim you can find them without much trouble following the signs accordingly. The pick-up and drop-off locations are just outside the terminal, only a short walk away.

  • What’s the best flight to take from London to Gran Canaria to reduce my carbon emissions?

When it comes to reducing your carbon emissions on this route, the best flight to take would be with Iberia departing from London Gatwick Airport (LGW) and stopping off in Madrid and connecting to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Airport (LPA). This flight reduces your carbon footprint by 47% and is a regular flight run by Iberia.

  • What are the best lounge options at London Stansted Airport (STN)?

STN has one main passenger lounge, called the Escape Lounge. If you want to unwind before your journey, consider booking your place, which can be reserved in advance for around £26. You may enjoy freshly prepared hot and cold dishes, as well as a selection of alcoholic and alcohol-free drinks.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from London to Gran Canaria?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from London to Gran Canaria.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from London to Gran Canaria?

Top tips for finding a cheap flight from London to Gran Canaria

  • If you need to get to the airport in London fast, reserve a Fast Track package to bypass security and passport check lines. You will be prioritised and able to proceed without worry. This service can be pre-booked online at a reduced rate or paid in full at the airport. Depending on how you book, fees range from £5 to £10.
  • To get duty-free products quickly, book and pay online with the Click & Collect option at London airports. This will save you time, especially if you need to get to your departure gate quickly. Simply gather your belongings on your way to board your flight.
  • If you wish to travel to London Stansted Airport (STN) and need the cheapest way to get there from central London, get a Stansted Express Train ticket from Liverpool Street Station. Up to 6 months in advance, tickets start at roughly £9.70 when buying online and cost roughly £20 on the day of travel.
  • When it comes to flying from London to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Airport (LPA) and you only want to fly from London Heathrow Airport (LHR), you can only grab flights with a stopover. It’s best to fly with British Airways with a stopover at Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD) and changing airlines to Ryanair for the connecting flight to Las Palmas.
  • If you require reduced mobility assistance in both London and Las Palmas airports, contact your airline at least 48 hours in advance to advise them of your requirements so arrangements can be made. Your airline should then be able to confirm staff to help you at security, passport control and boarding your flight. Upon arrival staff at Las Palmas Airport will be on hand to meet and greet you and offer any assistance you need.

My luggage got lost and until today there is no solution to the problem. It's still missing

I am writing to demand an immediate refund and compensation for the absolutely unacceptable experience I endured with VUELING this week. On Monday, my flight was canceled, and despite this, I have yet to receive any refund. I was then taken to a hotel in a terrible location, where no food or even water was provided. The next day, I was rebooked on another flight, for which I had to personally cover an additional €50 in transportation costs—only to have that flight canceled as well. After waiting 10 hours, only 10 of us were offered alternative accommodations, while the rest were left stranded. We were forced to remain in this situation until Thursday without a single explanation or proper assistance. During this entire ordeal, we were only provided with breakfast and dinner, while being charged extra for drinks. This level of treatment is completely unacceptable. I expect an immediate refund for the cancelled flights and full compensation for the inconvenience, additional expenses, and the significant distress caused.

Only food for sale. Did not even offer water. No entertainment

Checking was efficient and quick. Adequate luggage space. Food for purchase only at high prices

Nothing. There was no flight. They cancelled the flight with no replacement about 9 hours before takeoff.

The flight was canceled at the last minute. Alternative flight was booked after 6 hours wait in Malaga airport.

Boarding with some sense and communication. It was a total free-for-all everyone coming all at once, no organisation of row numbers or priority.

Horrible, flight cancelled and had to come back the next day

Terrible. For clarity - this was the Level flight to Boston. Not Vueling. Would urge customers to avoid this airline. Gate agent was singularly unhelpful. He was argumentative, rude and went out of his way to ensure that every penny was collected for the baggage (which we realized given how early we were for flight we could have saved hundreds of dollars if we checked in on app). No onboard entertainment or WiFi. Half of the front section was empty because the seats did not work! Plane was falling apart.

No complimentary snacks, but I think that’s a standard in the USA. There were loud drunk Germans sitting in front of us.

We boarded and then sat on the tarmac for an hour….probably not E Jets fault. But the gentleman that checked us in and took our luggage was exceptionally friendly and calming for early morning/ confused passengers. As always, it’s the people that make or break an experience, right?

I was hesitant to book with a low cost airline due to previous experience but Easy Jet surpassed my expectations. I would definitely book a flight with them again! Seemless booking, upfront about baggage fees, professional, and helpful staff.

Kayak sent several notifications that the flight was late. This contradicted the information on the airport boards. This was extremely confusing and we very nearly missed the flight purely because we double checked with the info desk when the flight stays said’closed’. Kayak notifications are therefore unreliable and pointlesa

Usual issues with flight delay. Perennial problem of travel by plane.

i didnt go this was a hacker booked this flight on my debit card !

Delayed almost 2 hours sitting on plane. No updates at all from flight deck and virtually no updates from cabin crew

Long delay resulted in my being unable to catch a train home and resulted in an additional £76 cost for an Uber

Be sure to check bags for 23 kg,.(50 lbs) Coming from US I chose the wrong size luggage weight when I checked in on my phone, and had to pay more when I dropped it off

The flight was delayed for over 1 hour. The boarding process is appalling making you wait for 30 minutes in the passage leading to the outside door without any seats.

All around poor experience. Barely got on flight because it was ostensibly overbooked. Forced into checking a carryon bag with empty overhead compartments. Nickeled and dimed. Charged for coffee. Despicable.

We were diverted to warsaw and there was zero information. We were just forced to disembark and off we go good luck the reat of the way. We all had to go our ways to find a way home!!!! Horrible horrible and it cost us alot of money to get a hotel and trains 4:30 pm next day.

Long delay was made worse by lack of information and long time in queue waiting for the plane to arrive

Blood contaminated tissue was stuffed to the back of the seat in front of us.

The check-in process is very confusing. The company charges for everything, but tickets are low priced. I probably wouldn't take the airline for a flight over 3 hours. The seats are uncomfortable. There's no net on the seats to hold things like headphones, a folder or anything.

My flight was delayed 1 hour. My Mood was not great

Lord knows why they had us start boarding when the plane wasn't even there, staff weren't welcoming and the couple next to me travelling with a young child had a nightmare with the baby changing facilities.

This time round it was very good, flight delayed by 30mins but capitan put his toe to the floor and made some time up!!

Boarding at Birmingham was appalling, made to stand in a corridor which claims to be a gate for an hour, despite knowing full well the flight was delayed….. the crew were fantastic and you have to feel sorry for them dealing with the delay caused three fold, inbound delay, damage to front baggage hold door and finally a further ATC delay. On board experience was good and crew friendly and helpful.

It was raining and we got all soaked because the staircases didn’t had a roof

Good service for a budget trip. No problems at all

No entertainment and the seats are well worn.! To the point it feels like your sitting in a bowl

The seats of the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner were ridiculously uncomfortable. I was on 10 flights during this vacation and this plane was super uncomfortable both times I was on one whereas all of the others were perfectly fine. Additionally, these planes do not have any air vents that passengers can control, the climate is entirely controlled by the crew which made for an extremely uncomfortable temperature for the duration. The flight attendants tried to make everyone happy with the temperature but several people you could tell were excessively warm and just wanted a bit of airflow.

Everything was fine except not posting the gate number until 14 minutes before boarding. In an airport the size of Heathrow, that was unacceptable.

We already had a five hour layover in London, and then they cancelled our flight about half hour before we were due to board. They wouldn't give us access to the lounge and hanging around the extremely busy terminal for another three hours until our next flight was crappy. 8 hours in a busy terminal is awful. The least they could have done was give us access to one of their quiet, comfortable lounges for the inconvenience. I heard from others that they do this a lot -- cancel these short flights if they're not completely full. When we got onto the next flight it was absolutely packed and uncomfortable. Just very disappointing. British Airways used to be a great airline to fly with, but it doesn't feel that way at all now.

Don't fly thru London Awful and huge U need 4 hrs to transfer cuz u have to tale buses to and fro from airplanes Bad business

Staff with low service level, forgetful. Temperature at 15 C and after asking twice to raise the temperature the crew did nothing.

They took good care of me on the plane and had it not been for handicap assistance I would definitely had missed my connecting flight . Not BA fault but The airport security instead . Two hours is way too long for security

The least comfortable business class seat I have encountered for a while - very very firm when reclined making sleeping difficult. Cost cutting is visible everywhere - no offer to refill drinks (the wines were not good - so no real issue there :) ) Just not worth what BA charge

old seat need to go! outdated and uncomfortable. I waited 40 minutes for my bag

They had about 20-25 people overbooked. Including me. Why is this?? I was put on a flight to NC an hour later with a 4 hour layover. I was supposed to be home at 1045am instead i was home at 7:30pm. An extra day to pay for dog care.

The flight was delayed over 2 hours, we should off left the plane2 late passengers as it’s not fair on everyone who’s followed the rules.

Dreamliner. Yes great if maintained. I didn't see anyones screen work consistently during either of our flights. Worse was their ability to not only dump you out of premium but separate couples and seat someone's carer at the opposite end of the aircraft. This poor gentleman had no hand so his partner who assists him, being seated at the other end of the aircraft, well that really showed us all what Tui think :( It was fairly dire all in all, they advertise all the perks of the dreamliner only in reality you don't have the features and they change the windows and colours to suit their constant sales pitches. Ironically they were so low on stock for the return flight that all their sales pitches were a waste of time! Their contract only favours them and 'operational changes' well they cover every excuse and Tui use it. Surprisingly we haven't reinstalled the Tui app or booked with them since. It's a shame as I rated them highly during the pandemic.

One flight attendant not wearing a mask over nose, 50% of passengers not either, and no effort to correct. Boarding was very late with no information - lots of standing around waiting.
