Terrible. Was charged smoking fee and I dont even smoke. The car was disgusting when I picked it up but they only had one full size option and there were long lines to get it changed - so I kept it because we were in a hurry. We had the car one day, i do not smoke, but charged a significant smoking fee. Working on it with hertz but its the last time i am renting from them.

When I rented through Kayak I requested airport pickup. Since I am unfamiliar with the addresses in St. Louis, it assigned me to another location (unfortunately without indicating it was NOT the airport, but a car dealership 20 minutes away). Once I discovered (en route to St. Louis), I attempted to call and cancel but to no avail. My confirmation number was not accessible via the Hertz site so I was unable to cancel there. I called the toll free number on the confirmation and could not get a live person. I tried another Hertz location (since the car dealership was not even listed on the Hertz site) and he tried to find a number for me but was unable to. I finally found a website for the car dealership and went through the chat option. Was told they'd take care of it and even received a follow-up email, but have yet to receive a cancellation confirmation. All told, a horrible experience and will not use Kayak or Hertz again.

The rental, although was advertised as St Louis airport, was actually a 30 minute ride away. The shuttle service didn't go there. We arrived to the airport location at 4:45 where we found all this out. Our location closed at 5 pm so we couldn't get there before closing. So we canceled our original which was $41/day and asked for their lowest priced which turned out to be $72/day. They said it was because we were walk-ins. We were not walk-ins as we'd booked 3 days ago. We left and got a Dollar car for $48.

It was really easy to get to the Hertz off-airport site via rideshare. The office was easy to find and the price I paid to be able to pick up and drop off at different airports was outstanding! I saved over $400 versus getting the car at the airport. I was in/out in less than 10 min. Super easy, thank you

Filled up tank -apparently it wasn’t tiptop full, but it had stopped so budget charged me $5.00 for gas. Pretty chapped about it actually. Staff was ok, but it was confusing to pick up/drop off in a tent. ? Wasn’t going to say anything about tent service but since they are being petty about gas. Travel a lot, never had as much confusion as to where to pick up/drop off and never in a tent.🤔

I got flat out denied to rent a vehicle due to not having a credit card with a high enough limit but plenty of money via debit card to cover anything necessary. Rental car companies take debit cards and have zero issues. I provide a deposit, all money for the rental, rental car insurance, etc. How is it that my credit rating is any concern? I can literally pay you up front, my driving history is practically spotless. I have no criminal history. Why can I not rent a car? If it wasn’t for Jerry at Avis and approval from management, I would’ve been stranded during a move. STL area has no vehicles to rent outside the airport and you can’t do the same processes you can at a non airport location. I had to rent a second vehicle from 2 hours away to finish my trip. Make it make sense and shame on Kayak for putting me through this.

The car was fine but the pick up was in the wrong location. When renting a car from an airport you assume it is from the airport hire car branch. We arrived to find that our car was actually reserved in the down town branch, 25 minutes from the airport and closed in the evening. Had to get an Uber to the hotel that evening and then an Uber to the car hire shop in the morning. When I got there the car seat I booked was missing and only available at the airport so I had to drive back there. Not the best start to our trip and a waste of a day and Uber costs. Everything else about the car was fine.

Friendly staff. Car never broke down or had any hiccups. That was the extent of the positive parts. It was the most uncomfortable car I’ve ever been in. We were accused of causing over five scratches and paint issues on the car when we dropped it off. Thankfully, we took a video of it when we picked it up to prove that that was not our fault. If we had not taken a video, it would not have mattered that it wasn’t us. We would’ve been charged.

Initially the vehicle was great but the maintenance and oil change light came on.

Cons:

Vehicle maintenance been up to date, I tried to contact roadside assistance and was on hold for a half hour. I got different answers from everyone I talked to.

The experience was as last time; it was excellent. Staff is always extremely friendly. When I arrived there was no shuttle. They sent one immediately when I called and I didn’t have to wait on the phone for 20 minutes to speak to a person. Just absolutely seamless.

They were closed when my plane arrived (on time as scheduled at 8:30pm). I never got a car. They were unapologetic that not informing me there would be no airport pickup or way to get the car I reserved left me stranded and scrambling to find a rental car last minute. I will Never do business with Dollar again. I suggest removing this Dollar store from your lists so this does not happen to anyone else.

At pickup, two employees were having a "robust" conversation as to who was responsible for listening to the vehicle numbers radioed back to them. It was a "passionate" conversation that prevented work from continuing. The conditions of some of the vehicles were a bit concerning. The F-150 clearly needed an alignment which could have been a safety issue. Another customer (disabled vet) was provided a Charger that had been in an accident. He waited around for roughly an half hour for help but no one came. He loaded his wheelchair into the trunk and left.

When we picked up the car and went outside, the two greeters were chatting and showing pictures on their iPhones. After waiting a couple of minutes I had to ask if they were the greeters that were to get my car. We were anticipating getting a Camry as that was what was advertised and that is a car we were familiar with. The only car in the row of full-size cars was one !!! Impala. They radioed to someone and an assistant manager came out and began going off to bring up other cars. By this time, there were several other customers wanting any car to get onto their Business appointments. After considerable confusion, the assistant manager offered us a Hyundai Kona, telling us it was a considerable upgrade. We did not feel that it had much acceleration since we were having to get on the interstate and drive a couple of hours to our destination. When we returned the car on Natural Bridge Road coming from the east, we and five other customers turned in where it says “drop off.” along the fence. We parked the car and took our bags to the shuttle location only to find that we had left the car in an incorrect space and should have come down to the light at the next street to find your entry drive for drop off. This was considerably wearing on us in the heat to walk back with bags etc. Our wish would be a different sign at that turn in. I do wish to say that when we picked up the car, the shuttle drivers and the desk staff were more than polite, efficient and helpful. They are your stars. We would wish for a Code or number for discount that would make us return to Alamo as I am the one who does the booking. When my husband was working, he had a code for National and we always enjoyed the nice cars that we used during those years. Everything has changed since those days and that number is no longer recognized or honored. Thank you for your wish for feedback I do not wish to be a complainer as we recognize how difficult good service is to find these days. Mrs. Steve Stone
