FAQs - booking Qatar flights

  • Are there direct flights to Qatar?

There are many direct flights you can take from the UK to Qatar. In London you can fly with Qatar Airways from Gatwick in approximately 6h 40min. From Manchester you can fly non-stop with the same airline in around 6h 50min. Whilst from Edinburgh Airport you can fly with British Airways in about 7 hours.

  • What are popular stopovers on flights from the UK to Qatar?

Your layover will normally be determined by your airline, who will stop at a hub airport before you continue your journey. For example, Pegasus Airlines from Stansted Airport (STN) or Manchester Airport (MAN) to Doha Airport (DOH) normally stops at Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW), whereas Istanbul Airport (IST) is a common stopover location for Turkish Airlines on flights from Edinburgh Airport (EDI).

  • Can I reduce my carbon emissions when flying?

You can lower your carbon footprint by choosing an airline which operates a route releasing fewer carbon emissions. For instance, Qatar Airways fly this route releasing about 53% less CO2 than the industry standard. Rather than releasing 1689 kg CO2 per passenger, this airline releases about 800 kg CO2 person.

  • Is there Wi-Fi on board flights from UK to Qatar?

If you want to work on flights to Qatar, you can look for airlines that provide internet on board. For instance, Qatar Airways provides Wi-Fi free of charge on most flights, whereas British Airways offer internet, but this comes at an additional cost.

  • Which UK airports have a fast-track service?

There is a fast track service at Heathrow and Gatwick airports in London, so you can avoid delays on the day you travel. This costs about £12.50 and £5 respectively. At Manchester Airport you can use the fast track service for around £5. Whilst Edinburgh Airport also charges about £5 to get through security faster.

  • Are meals included on flights to Qatar?

As the flights are relatively long, you might want to eat during the trip. Pegasus Airlines on the other hand has a meal service, but you must pay extra for this.

  • Which lounges can I use ahead of my flight to Qatar?

At Gatwick Airport there is the Club Aspire Lounge, where you can relax before take-off. Similarly, at Heathrow Airport, you can use the Plaza Premium Lounge. At Manchester Airport you can chill-out at the Escape Lounge. Whilst at Edinburgh Airport there is the No1 Edinburgh lounge.

  • Which airports are hubs for airlines that fly to Qatar?

  • How much luggage can you take on board flights to Qatar?

Airlines tend to have different baggage policies. For example, British Airways and Qatar Airways flights from Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Doha Airport (DOH) permit one item of cabin baggage and one checked bag. Top tips for finding cheap flights to Qatar

  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest Qatar flight deals.
  • If you’re planning on staying in Qatar for 30 days or less, you will not need a visa as you will be granted entry upon arrival. For those that are visiting Qatar for work reasons, a visa is necessary. You will need to make sure that you have at least six months left on your passport from the day you enter the country.
  • Qatar has many important festivals throughout the year, one of which is the Qatar International Art Festival. If you plan to visit during this event, which normally takes place for a week in November, you should be aware that flights tend to cost more during this period.
  • If you want to visit Qatar for the Aspire International Kite Festival, which takes place for four weeks in the month of October, it is worth noting that flights tend to be more expensive during this period. For those that are not visiting the country for this reason, it’s advised that you book your flights for a different month so that you save money on your trip.
  • Passengers travelling from London will have a variety of airports to depart from. If you live to the north of London, then Luton Airport (LTN) or Stansted Airport (STN) are likely to be most convenient for you. In the south of the city, Gatwick Airport (LGW) offers great connections, whilst to the east and west of London you'll find London City Airport (LCY) and Heathrow Airport (LHR) respectively.
  • If you are hiring a car when you arrive at Hamad International Airport (DOH) then you need to be fully aware of the rules of the road. For example, everyone must wear a seat belt in the car and children under 10 years of age are not allowed in the front seat. Whilst it is not compulsory for children to be in a child restraint at present, it’s strongly advised that you put young children in suitable seats to ensure their safety.
  • If you’re flying Business Class, some airlines provide you with the option of a chauffeur service to the airport. For example, you can use your Business Points with British Airways to get a chauffeur from your home to the terminal entrance. All Business Class passengers within a 100-mile radius of certain terminals, such as Heathrow Airport (LHR), can use this service.
  • For those that are flying from Heathrow Airport (LHR), you can make use of the Reserve and Collect service to speed up your transit through departures. This means you can do your duty free shopping online and then collect it once you arrive.
  • Flights to Qatar during Ramadan are likely to cost more than other periods of the year. So, if you are not travelling to the country for this reason, you should not book your flights during this religious event.

Don't be afraid if you board an Oman Air Airbus A330 - it will take you to Colombo and not Muskat. The Aircraft is leased by Qatar Airways ;-)

I had first class service from them. A little late taking off, but no major problem

Operated by American Airlines. Very chaotic and the crew was bit rough responding any enquiries. Restricted leg space.. Qatar would have been better

For a short flight, Qatar Airways offers very good onboard service.

Qatar airways from Doha to guangzhau was excellent big bird Boeing 777 more room and smoothly flight, I Love it

Not good. Expected a lot more as far as excellence.

The made us waiting and held our passports and boarding pass making us miss our flights

It was a long flight but overall a good one. The one thing that I would comment on is that there is a real problem with disposable plastic products when it comes to the meal service. It would be great for Qatar Airways to find ways to make its meal service more circular and reduce the immense amount of waste.

Not impressed. Only allowed one carry on on such a long flight.

they give hard time at checking, they not allow computer bag or purse

Movie selection was ok, but could be better. Would like to see greater selection of newer movies.

Don’t use them on the IST-isb route, horrible service

It was a nightmare. I booked business class ticket from Ediburgh to Beirut via Istanbul to attend a funeral. I had a wonderful experience flying to Istanbul from Edinburgh. Then I could not get a boarding pass issued to Beirut. It seems that although they booked me and I had a reservation number, I had no seat allocated and the flight was full. I was asked to go from one desk to another and made to wait for 2 hours. I missed my flight as I did not have a seat assigned and it was full. The only option was to put me on the next flight, 6 hours later, for a fee of over $400. They said that was the best they can do to 'help me' and to 'take it or leave it'. Well, I was not about to be bullied; I stood my ground. I booked and paid premium for the journey, which was confirmed. The eventually accepted to not charge me extra and i waited a total of over 8 hours in the airport with no compensation. On top of my grief with the risk of missing the funeral service, I had to put up with their indifference and condescending attitude. They spoke about me in Turkish thinking I would not understand (I hold a British passport) in front of me. When they eventually handed my passport and boarding pass back to me, I showed them I was born in Istanbul and that I understood everything and said a condescending 'thank you' back to them in Turkish. You should have seen their faces. I said that consumers have rights and it is a shame that Turkish Airlines does not have good customer service to at least acknowledge and apologize for errors committed by the airline. Blaming the me, the client, for such an error and placing unreasonable ultimatums, rudeness and dismissiveness to be rid of me, particularly when I was vulnerable and visibly grieving was really shocking... The airline taints the city of Istanbul and the people of Türkiye. Such a shame.

Was not able to check in online, so had to stand in line for 90 minutes to get a boarding pass, and I had no luggage to check. Why not let people check in in advance on line? Or at a kiosk at the airport?

for the very long way the flight has to be more confortable it was very dirty the wc was not clean

First class payment but wife’s seat broken, would recline but not lay flat. On previous flight, delays and ground crew malfunctions connecting jetway made us miss flight to Houston. I asked twice for a cart to assist us getting across the massive Istanbul Airport, but was denied. We are both over 70.

The flight departed on time and the staff was professional.

A good airline, but at checking in, they allocated seats for my wife, and I far away from each other, and to change them, they wanted a payment, such a bad policy, it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth All was good on the plane, good food, but the air hostess was abrupt and a bit rough dealing with the passengers, but one has to find excuses for staff working under pressure

My mother got sick and dying and i have to change my flight and they charged me $2260 that is redisclose.

I will avoid this airline as much as possible. Service was rude, and I don’t think the crew knew how to answer a CALL LIGHT. I pushed my call light on the ohare to Istanbul and the Istanbul to Thailand flight because I was very very thirsty. NO ONE CAME. I pushed it twice! NO ONE CAME! Why have a call light when no one will come? My experience was the WORSE AND I WILL NEVER EVER FLY WITH THIS AIRLINE AGAIN. The cabin crew needs to learn MANNERS AND BE RETRAINED on their jobs on how to be helpful and kind instead of being short with their customers and ANSWER CALL LIGHTS! I honestly wouldn’t be suprised this airline goes out of business.

Lovely crew - comfortable journey despite it being an older plane.

The business class experience is fantastic. The crew were polite but often unavailable even when I tried to call them! I even found myself bringing my used dishes and cutlery up to the crew because no one had come to collect it after over an hour.

Overall mediocre experience. Check in was good. They're were discriminatory. They were not attentive, food choices were not vegetarian friendly. The food served was frozen.

1st time with. Etihad Airways and it was amazing from check in to crew. Great flight.

Good range of movies but lacking decent tv shows. Wifi was really expensive on this flight, considering flights under 7 hours have a $9.99 USD charge for streaming, to jump up to $24.99 for a 7 hour 40 flight seemed a little bit of a rip off. Staff are inattentive, and really need to improve on the customer experience.

It has been a couple of years since I flew with Etihad last, after having a unpleasant experience with them coming out of the pandemic. I can say that the experience has uplifted, but I can’t really rate the service. At Barcelona airport the service was great, with their dedicated Etihad staff very helpful. The onboard experience wasn’t great, not very personalised and it really makes sense why Etihad doesn’t feature in the top 10 2023 Skytrax awards. The crew just seemed to be inattentive and almost absent from the cabin. I felt that I had to keep getting their attention. Even after I’d finished my meal, an hour went by before I had to call them to clear the tray/plate etc.

My wife and I were upgraded to Business Class on our Dublin-Abu-Dhabi flight on the 22nd of January. Being served by "Mariyan" (not too sure about her name, she's from Tunisia) was the real highlight of our flight, she deserves to be working with etihad. We are looking forward to the next upgrade as we are flying back to Dublin on February 01, 2024. If I am not mistaken we have just reached GOLD status as Etihad Guests.

I WOULD ADVISE NOT TO BOOK YOUR FLIGHT ON KAYAK. THEY SHOW BETTER FARES AND AFTER I BOOKED MINE, I FIND OUT THAT IT DID NOT INCLUDE LUGGAGE. i HAD TO PAY $800 TO CHECK IN MY BAGS.

Etihad broke my suitcase Also over charged me for luggage

Ripped off and broken seats in Business class. Seats stink and need to request the staff for additional bedsheets. Crew if very friendly though

My worst flying experience so far. This flight was delayed a total of 42 hours and diverted to New York before it was finally cancelled. It was delayed 4 and a half hours in London. As we were scanning our boarding passes at the gate they advised that the flight was being diverted to JFK since the delays caused us to missed the open hours for Charlotte international customs and immigration. We were assured multiple times by airport personnel, flight attendants, and the Pilot that we would land at JFK go through customs and immigration and then reboard the plane to fly to Charlotte in the same night. When we landed in New York the pilot advised us as we were retrieving our carry on luggage that we were delayed till 10am the next morning and to see guest services to get a room for the night. During this time I had to purchase a room for a family member in Charlotte which drove over 4 and a half hours to pick us up from Charlotte. This could have been avoided if American Airlines had been up front about the delay. Then after standing in line for over 2 and a half hours at guest services we were taken by taxi to a hotel 30 minutes out of the way. Luckily I looked for other flights that night and found one at 8 am to get on. The initial flight which we were scheduled to fly to charlotte in was delayed 12 more times and was finally cancelled 42 hours after it was supposed to land. I am unaware of what happened to the guest that were supposed to fly on the flight after we were placed on another flight but 42 hours in delays for a direct flight is absolutely ridiculous.

The boarding to Gatwick was a breeze but the boarding from Gatwick was a nightmare. The onboard service to Gatwick had a lot to be desired but the onboard sevice from Gatwick was amazing ! Very nice, friendly and funny ! Would I recommend BA to anyone.? ! Yes I would!

Really quick check in and security at Heathrow Terminal 5. Staff on board were lovely and very friendly. Could have provided a few more drinks on the flight but they were available at the back of the plane.

Flight boarded and took off late for unknown reasons. Crew insisted we check our hand luggage due to full flight, which it was not even close to full. Then had to wait almost an hour a and a half for the hand luggage to come onto the luggage belt since it was loaded last. This came after many hours of traveling pregnant with my 6 year old daughter. Really didn’t appreciate the unnecessary delays. What the hell?

Left late. Crowded like cattle. Standing and waiting. Food on board getting worse.

Terrible- the flight time was delayed and then I was denied boarding because I arrived at the new time of departure

It was a flight operated by Aer Linus for BA and the plane and crew were very good but the food selection was average.

Flying economy is like being packed into a sardine can.

Flight delayed an hour due to plane maintenance issues after getting in line to board. Issue was plane galley ovens which eliminated hot meals for overseas flight. Cold selections were limited due to availability. Drink and meal service (already an hour delayed) was very slow. Upon arrival in Nashville, had to sit at gate for about 15 minutes before disembarking with no explanation. Local police then boarded plane as we were disembarking so maybe that was the issue.

Boarding good. Seats uncomfortable when lie flat. Food was awful. Tasted stale and chicken was dry. No live tv or flight map. Had to pay for internet.

Pegasus is not a very comfortable airline. They’re not in any way hospitable

It was like moving cattle around. Very abrupt, uncomfortable and not much hospitality

All good but air not give the pasing er any food even glase of water

Flight delayed by 1hr when we already boarded because someone had to get off. Leg room is terrible for 6ft people like me.

I used the airline 5-6 times for the last year and every flight have had perfect timing and I like it. Despite catastrophic absence of space for my legs 😁

The crew was utterly non helping and non courteous.I asked for a water. The air hostess could have said it's paid . She informed me that I will come later after serving but never turned up. The seats were never comfortable. My first and last flight with Pegasus.I am not taking again

The plane left Istanbul 1 hour late and the AC was not really working great it was so hot inside and no air. This was my worst flight in a long time since I had a flight with Ryanair.

Cheap and cheerful. It’s a super cheap, no frills flight. Very professional and as it’s an A320 relatively spacious. Seats do not recline. Happy with the service. You get what you pay for. Can’t complain

I had 4 flights for less than a week and there were no delays and issues. Thanks to the crews and for perfectly organised service.

There is no usb for charging the phone you should provide the water
