The pick up method in Florence is horrible, I also asked the drop off to be in Rome and I didn’t notice they put Genoa so I had to pay an extra $100 in fee for when I dropped it off to the location I had originally asked for.

They did not have the SUV I reserved, and insisted I take a pick up truck or a mid-sized sedan! THey took no responsiblity for this error... Also, the deposit for self CDW insurance (over US20K in deposit) was just too unreasonable. Staff not friendly.

These guys are the worst. Watch out for all kinds of hidden charges and if anyone tells you anything about your rental, make sure you get it in writing. These guys are supreme scam artists. Don’t get suckered like I did.

I was told I HAVE to get the premium insurance otherwise my deposit would be $26,000!!The receptionist kept on showing us in Spanish, I asked to have it shown in English, she did. And I was able to select no insurance, but it needed managers passcode. So I clicked back, and selected the lowest coverage and it was allowing me to choose how much deposit, $5000! At the return, they charged me $0.01 to release my deposit, which still has not been release. The car itself was comfortable, the people on the other hand, I feel they are shady.

It was very spacious. My driver was very friendly and funny 🤣😁. There was a bathroom in the trunk. And I needed (of course)to pee so you know where I left a wet spot(the trunk). The drivers around us were very friendly 😸, probably cuz I put a "baby 🍼 on board" sticker on the car. And my dog 🐶 absolutely loved 😍 the drive. He was barking like crazy.

No one answers the phones at Budget. The same voice menu prompts all take you to lost and found. Upon finally getting someone to confirm that Budget staff will be at the airport despite a late arriving flight, security told us they left 15 mins before I walked in (i.e. after the flight had actually landed). Really frustrated with Budget and will not rent from them again.

Rental company tried to force me to take an electric vehicle saying it was their choice. I was told the car had a driving range of 200 miles and must be returned with 70% of battery life. Rental companies are stuck with electric cars that are not wanted by renters. This was a bait and switch situation. I was forced to take the large SUV at a higher price.

Pros:

We made a last minute reservation for an automatic transmission car and they were great, specifically Aurielle who helped us was amazing. Despite not reserving it as such, we were able to pickup the car in the city and drop off at the airport for no additional fee, and got to add a GPS (which was a lifesaver). It made our last day a great one!

Cons:

Kayak stated $15/day for GPS, but Hertz charged Euro 30 (= $36); never received a receipt from Hertz

Geneva Drop off ,French side of airport. Not well organized. Delays in returning car due to lack of employees. One person to cover new car rentals and car return on different parts/floor of building

Pros:

The staff was nice at the rental counter but could have been more helpful especially for car pick up.

Cons:

They did not have the car that we rented and confirmed - Mercedes class C. They gave us a Renault Megane. The line was very long waiting for. > 40 min to pick up the car. The rental counter was convenient in the train terminal but it was difficult to find where the car was parked in 2 sep buildings

car was type we expected

Cons:

they tried to charge me a different rate from the contract. Took 20 minutes to get resolved.Then they charge a lot to add second drivers. Got a flat tire, no spare, no compressor. They sent a tow truck (2.5 hours later). We had to go by taxi to local Avis office the following day to pick up replacement.

We were threatened with a 1,000 Euro fee for returning the car two hours late. Each representative we spoke with gave a different story. Then no such fee was charged, again without explanation. Never again!

Pros:

In Bordeaux the 1st Lady with whom we discussed the deal seemed to be tricky and manipulative but the 2nd one who gave us the key and guided through a concrete car leease related details was excellent and very very helpful. In Bordeaux we received amazing service: quick, efficient and very courtous.

Cons:

When taking the car in Barcelona and discussing what is available things were not very clear in the beginning and seemed to be a bit tricky and overwhelming.

I made a mistake in the date of pick up and had to rent for one day prior to my official pick up time and the staff did everything possible to help make the impact of that as minimal as possible and retain the integretily of my American reservation rate saving me what could have been a thousand dollars in added costs.

pick up was really slow. Multiple staff behind counter but only one serving customers. There was a complication with a customer ahead of me and despite the queue growing none of the other staff opened their desks. Dropped car off to a closed office in the evening and was very disappointed to get a charge for a scratch to the car which i do not believe i caused. I have raised a complaint but very little confidence in a positive outcome. I do not plan to use Goldcar again

They didn’t have a car reserved for me on arrival, and tried to charge a walk up rate. In the end, I lost the prepaid portion of my rental, sat in the coffee shop opposite and booked online with Avis (for cheaper than what they wanted to charge me). Really disappointed.

I’m disappointed. I thought that I was booking through you guys but then it rerouted me to qeeq.com and the car rental was rent scape. They made me give deposit of €1300 and when I got the car it was completely scratched and dented and chips in the glass as well. I realized right away that this is going to be a scam. Blame me for the scratches and then keep my deposit, so I cancelled the rental agreement and didn’t take the car. I did a review on Rentscape and it confirmed what I was worried about. 1 Star and people are saying that they charged them for fuel even though they gave it back filled up. They also blame you for making scratches and keep your deposit. Why I m frustrated is that I had to run around and fight to get my deposit and my money back for the rental.

Car was decent, a little old but not bad. They were friendly and helpful and picked me up at the airport right away when I called. They did not send me the vehicle inspection and contract like they said they would when I picked up the car however when I dropped it off the guy was very helpful and sent it then. We did the car walk through together and had no issues.

Very poor experience. The petrol was only filled 50% despite booking a full tank. The oil light came on twice and we have to return to the airport where we rented it from. The windscreen was cracked. There was no indication as to where we needed to drop the car and it took us over an hour to find the right place.

Amazing as usual, not having a counter is so great. No one is trying to sell you anything, you get the car you booked, and there is no time pressure for being late, as the counter is not going to close because it doesn't exist.

They are not COVID SAFE - they gave me an used dirty car without cleaning! The whole pickup drop off is a nightmare. They are unscrupulous and try and charge you for damage that has nothing to do with you! Will never rent from them again
