June is the first real month of the British summer – but that doesn’t always mean blue skies and sunshine. Don’t want a cool start to the season? Here’s where is hot in June around the globe.

Europe is well and truly heating up in June, with most destinations staying warm during the day and night. There are also plenty of places a little further away boasting balmy temperatures – from Greek islands to desert delights in the US. To help you decide, I’ve collected 10 of the best hot destinations in June.

Where’s hot in Europe in June

June is one of my favourite months to visit Europe. The school summer holidays are yet to begin, meaning quieter beaches and slightly cheaper prices. Plus, the weather is warm enough to book a sunny holiday with confidence.

1. Mykonos, Greece

Mykonos' distinctive windmills with the sun setting over an island across the sea.
A man sits on a white wall looking at the tranquil blue sea against the clear blue sky.

Average June temperature: 23°C

It only takes three hours or so to reach dreamy islands like Mykonos. It’s the best known of the Cyclades islands and a real haven for culture and a more lively party vibe. There are plenty of great bases from which to explore, including charming villages like Ano Mera and the history-packed Mykonos Town.

Mykonos arguably has some of the best beaches in Greece – think luminous blue sea and serene bays. The aptly named Paradise Beach is the most famous, while neighbouring Super Paradise Beach is lined with buzzing beach clubs. For a calmer vibe, Argari Beach is an idyllic white-sand swathe just 8.5 kilometres south of the main town.

Greece is known as one of Europe’s hotter summer destinations, especially in recent years. There are plenty of ways to keep cool though. From swimming in the Aegean Sea to lounging with a cold ouzo in the shade at a local beach side taverna.

2. Málaga, Spain

A harbourfront cityscape with large buildings behind rows of trees.

Average June temperature: 22°C

June marks the start of Spain’s hot season – especially in the Andalucian city of Málaga on the south coast. The historic Old Town is the place to head for if you want to browse modern boutiques and sip sangria at rooftop terrace bars. It’s also the location of the Alcazaba: an 11th century Moorish fortress with sweeping vistas of the city’s port.

Málaga is also known for its impressive art scene and it was even the birthplace of Picasso. Make sure you venture into the Picasso Museum to see numerous works in his iconic neoclassical style. Finally, if you fancy hitting the beach to enjoy those 27°C highs, you’ll have no shortage of options.

Malagueta Beach is a one kilometre sandy stretch right next to the Old Town. Or why not hire a car to reach the slightly farther flung Raven Beach that has a more relaxed barefoot vibe?

3. Athens, Greece

Average June temperature: 25°C

With the height of the summer not quite arrived, June makes an ideal month to visit Athens and it’s various ancient treasures. Day time temperatures typically sit in the mid 20s, making strolling around its ruins in the sunshine a pleasant experience.

And speaking of ruins, there’s a plethora to tick off – including the legendary hilltop Acropolis, the Ancient Agora and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. You could also just get lost of the city’s cobbled streets or make the most of the dry weather (there’s only an average of 6 milimetres of rain in June) to enjoy green spaces like the Athens National Garden.

Where is hot in June: short-haul

Fancy visiting somewhere a little different? Many wonderful destinations in Turkey, Morocco and the Middle East are also within easy reach and offer balmy daytime temperatures.

4. Antalya, Turkey

Average June temperature: 24°C

With warm temperatures and barely any rain, June is the ideal month to visit the Turkish coastal city of Antalya and stroll its ancient bazaars and Roman ruins without overheating. It also marks the very beginning of the peak season, so it’ll still be possible to grab a bargain on hotels and flights. In fact, KAYAK data shows average flight prices sit at around £179 in June.

Antalya’s shimmering coastline is by far it’s biggest attraction. You’ll find some of Turkey’s best beaches dotted around the city – each one featuring golden sand and the clear waters of the Turquoise Coast. There are plenty of brilliant day trip options from Antalya, too, if you fancy mixing R&R and a bit of culture. My top picks are the jaw-dropping Lycian Rock Tombs and the idyllic seaside town of Fethiye.

Hottest countries in June: Asia

If a long-haul flight doesn’t dissuade you, there are plenty of places further afield in Asia where the thermometer seldom drops below 25°C – either in the day or overnight.

5. Hanoi, Vietnam

Average June temperature: 29°C

June may mark the beginning of Vietnam’s rainy season – but that only means it’s much less busy. Hanoi in the north is a sublime spot to begin a tour of the country, with fabulous French-influenced architecture, delicious culinary offerings (think pho!) and amazing day trips to awesome natural beauty spots all on the cards.

Getting around the city is simple, too. I’d recommend downloading the Grab app (similar to Uber) so you can quickly book a taxi to get from A to B if the skies do decide to open. As well as ticking off key city sights like Hoàn Kiếm Lake and Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, you could also use Hanoi as a base to visit other nearby destinations. The majestic Halong Bay is an obvious pick (and rightly so) but I’d also recommend heading south to the equally as enchanting Ninh Binh.

6. Beijing, China

The majestic and historic Great Wall of China gracefully winds through lush foliage seen from a window.

Average June temperature: 24°C

If the Great Wall of China has been on your bucket list for a while now, 2025’s the year to go. China is another place where it’s hot in June – but still not too hot to make the day trip out of Beijing to marvel at this impressive structure a sweaty and uncomfortable experience.

Temperatures usually sit at around 24°C which is ideal for exploring both the city of Beijing and the many allures just beyond its limits. Tienanmen Square and the Forbidden City shouldn’t be missed, while you may also want to plan a visit to the Summer Palace to wander its tranquil gardens and serene lake shores.

7. Manila, the Philippines

A curious traveller sits on the deck of a boat, surrounded by towering granite rocks that stand as majestic sentinels.

Average June temperature: 28°C

If tropical islands vibes are more your bag, consider the Philippines. It’s one of the hottest countries in June to visit if you’re craving a beach getaway – with temperatures in the capital, Manila, often reaching upwards of 32°C.

While the city has many allures of its own – from the majestic Fort Santiago to the street art of Bonifacio Global City – Manila is mainly a jumping off point for the Philippines’ idyllic islands. The azure shorelines of Palawan are a popular pick. Or why not hop across to breathtaking Boracay where you’ll be greeted with white-sand coves and a great beach party scene?

June is one of the cheaper months to visit Philippines as it falls within the rainy season. Don’t let this put you off booking a hot escape there, though. Like most tropical locales, the rain showers rarely last all day and you’ll enjoy far quieter beaches when the sun does come out.

Where is hot in the USA?

By June, the USA has really started to heat up. And with so many incredible places to visit, you really are spoiled for choice. Here’s a few ideas – from sunny city breaks to musical adventures.

8. Las Vegas, USA

The well-known Las Vegas roadside sign, with sunlight beaming through the trunks of palm trees in the backdrop.
A tall replica of the iconic Eiffel Tower stands near a beautiful illuminated fountain amidst the tall buildings.
An unpaved road through a grassy wilderness with views of far-off red sandstone mountains.

Average June temperature: 30°C

It’s no surprise that this desert city is somewhere hot in June to visit. The month really can be a scorcher – with temperatures often reaching highs of 37°C! Don’t let the heat put you off, though. There’s heaps of ways to keep cool in Las Vegas, from trying your luck in air-conditioned casinos to regular swims in your hotel’s pool. You could also fly up to cooler temperatures during a hot air balloon ride over the desert.

One of the most popular things to do while in Vegas is visit the Grand Canyon. Try to book your visit first thing in the morning to avoid the most intense heat of the day and take plenty of water. You might also want to make the most of your evenings by exploring the city’s streets and attractions when the sun has gone down. The Fremont Street Experience is an epic after-dark activity featuring amazing street art, bright lights and endless entertainment options.

9. Nashville, USA

A big ferry boat cruising down a river, passing by the beautiful and tall architecture along the shore.

Average June temperature: 24°C

If some toe-tapping fun in the sun is what you’re craving, set your sights on Nashville. It’s another city where it’s hot in June – with average daytime temperatures sitting in the mid 20s throughout the month. It can get pretty humid too but this is more than made up for by the city’s vibrant cultural allures.

Watching live music is absolutely essential while in Nashville – the city has birthed some of the world’s best-known county music stars, after all! Top venues include the Grand Ole Opry and the Ryman Auditorium, although you’ll find plenty of smaller bars hosting amazing performers. You could also check out the Nashville Country Music Hall of Fame or grab tickets to CMA Fest that takes place early in the month.

Music aside, Nashville is additionally a fantastic location to sample some southern culinary delights. Consider a food tour if you want to try everything. The city is also home to a few distilleries if you fancy sipping heady Tennessee whisky straight from its source.

10. Washington D.C., USA

The iconic Washington Monument stands tall near a rectangular pool surrounded by lush trees.

Average June temperature: 24°C

June is hands-down one of the best months for a sightseeing trip to Washington D.C. The weather really warms up (with highs often dipping close to 30°C), making exploring its many iconic monuments a joy. It’s also a month of countless events – including the Home Rule Music Festival and the Giant National Capital Barbecue Battle (as delicious as it sounds!).

You can easily spend half a day relaxing and soaking up some vitamin D in the city’s many lush parks. And on those days when you do experience the odd rain shower? There’s no shortage of amazing museums to discover – many of which are completely free to visit.

Where is hot in June and cheap

For a cheap sun holiday in June, it’s hard to beat Greece and its postcard-perfect islands. You’ll also find some great deals on cheap accommodation in Spain if you fancy a mini road trip along the blissful south coast. Craving a slice of paradise but have a strict budget? June is a sublime time to book that once-in-a-lifetime Philippines island escape.

FAQs for where’s hot in June

June is well and truly the start of the summer for many countries, meaning you’ll find guaranteed sun all across the globe. Greece and Turkey typically have very low rainfall in June – making both countries ideal options for some vitamin D without the worry of wetter weather.

If you want sunshine without going too far, the Med should deliver in June. Greece and Spain are both brilliant options for a getaway – with lower rainfall averages and highs creeping into the low 30°Cs.

Recommendation ranking of cities:

Our recommendation ranking of where to go is calculated based on the presented five factors: average flight prices, average hotel prices, average, high temperatures, average low temperatures, and average precipitation. Flight prices, hotel prices, and precipitation constitute inverse factors, meaning the lower the better. All factors are equally weighted.

Flight and hotel prices:

Average prices are estimated from KAYAK and associated brands’ internal data from the search period ‘03/12/2024 to 03/03/2025’ for the travel period ‘03/05/2025 to 30/06/2025.’ Flight prices include Economy Class return trips for one traveller, and hotel prices represent the nightly rates for a standard double room for hotels with three stars or below. Price insights may vary depending on the exact departure airport and over time as travel dates are approaching.

Weather (monthly average, high and low temperatures, and average precipitation):

Weather data is pulled from a third-party site, Weatherbase, and has not been verified by KAYAK. Monthly average temperature and precipitation data are based on historical insights from the past 102 years. Weatherbase data is updated in real-time from the US Census Bureau and other databases worldwide.
