What to do on your Costa del Azahar holidays
There are many lovely small towns to explore on your Costa del Azahar holiday. Historic Peniscola, in the north of the region, is a medieval villiage built around a castle and fortress dating back to the 12th century. Moving south along the coast Denia and Javea are to be found, two superb coastal towns both with magnificent beaches and a selection of fine restaurants and food markets. Take a stroll along the shoreline and explore the jagged cliffs and natural beauty of this area.
The best beaches in the Costa del Azahar have been said to be at the town of Benicassim, there you will find 6km of sandy shores protected by the Desert de les Palmes mountain range, which shelters the beach from strong winds. This area is also popular for activities such hiking, cycling, diving and wind surfing. Heading inland you can also find many picturesque rural towns such as Morella, where you can try local treats such as ham and truffles and climb the town's castle for fantastic views of the whole region.
