Limassol is Cyprus' largest, and arguably most enjoyable, resort. Situated right by the dazzling blue waters which lap the island's south coast and with the imposing Troodos Mountains behind it, Limassol is renowned for its beauty. Cyprus' climate is one of the most pleasant and predictable in the Mediterranean, the winters are mild, spring and autumn seasons are sunny and warm and summers are hot. Being right at the eastern end of the Mediterranean means that flights to Limassol's nearest airports (Larnaca and Paphos, both an hour away) generally take around four and a half hours from the UK. Despite being much closer to Turkey than it is to Greece however, Limassol is still only two hours ahead of the UK (GMT+2).

Aside from the delights of the many beaches, holidays in Limassol offer three other main attractions: culture, shopping and nightlife. Visitors who are keen to get a culture fix will make a beeline for the 14th century castle where Richard the Lionheart got married, while those keen to act out their 'Gladiator' fantasies will have a whale of a time at the Roman amphitheatre in nearby Curium. Visitors looking for retail therapy will be in seventh heaven as both the old and new towns are full of of shops packed with bargains and souvenirs of all kinds. After dark Limassol's abundance of bars, restaurants and clubs ensures all visitors are able to relax and unwind in their own preferred way after a hard day of sun worshipping, sightseeing, shopping and splashing around!
