Visitors can also make a trip to the 2000-acre Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve which has a variety of wild flora such as the native Torrey Pine tree.

La Jolla Holidays: Travel Essentials

The nearest airport to land at on La Jolla holidays is San Diego International Airport. The Metropolitan Transit System Route 30 connects to many of La Jolla's top destinations. La Jolla is eight hours behind GMT, and has a semi-arid climate with sunshine for much of the year, and little annual rainfall. September is also a good time to visit as it is the month of the San Diego Restaurant Week when there are lots of La Jolla restaurant discounts.

The Beaches in La Jolla

Among the beaches in La Jolla is La Jolla Cove where there are grassy bluffs above the beach that make great picnic spots. Its rich reefs are also a suitable destination for scuba diving and snorkelling, and it is beside the Scripps Park grassy expanse. The Windansea Beach has large, smoothly sculptured rocks along the sand; and is also a good beach for surfing. North of La Jolla is Torrey Pines State Beach at the bottom of 300 ft sandstone cliffs. It is a great beach destination for surfing and fishing.

Beyond the beaches the Birch Aquarium at Scripps includes oceanic wildlife from around the world, and provides spectacular views of the ocean.
