When to take your Victoria holidays
Despite its small size, Victoria has a varied climate with four distinct seasons. An ideal time to plan your Victoria holidays would be during the summer months between November and February. Springtime is also a beautiful time of year to visit Victoria and you can expect temperatures from 18-25 degrees. Begin your journey by flying in to Melbourne International Airport, located just north of Melbourne's city centre. From there you can proceed directly to your destination by bus transfer, taxi or car. The time zone is GMT+11.
What to do on your Victoria holidays
An ideal place to start your Victoria holidays would be in the city of Melbourne. Centred around the Yarra River and Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne is a wonderfully diverse city with a rich cultural heritage. Take a stroll through the lush Royal Botanic Gardens or head to the CBD (Central Business District) to get lost in the many hidden laneways where you will find plenty of fine restaurants, bars and boutiques. Just one hour's drive north-east is the stunning Yarra Valley region, home to over eighty wineries. Follow one of the many self-drive trails to find superb locally produced wine, beer, fruit, vegetables and freshwater salmon and trout.
The Great Ocean Road is an absolute must-see on your Victoria holidays. Whilst driving along the dramatic, rugged coastline you can visit the famous Twelve Apostles rock formations, meet local wildlife such as kangaroos and koalas or go hiking through the Great Otways National Park. For the best waves, head to Bells Beach, Torquay or Lorne. Apollo Bay is also a lovely spot for swimming, windsurfing or some freshly prepared fish and chips.
