The largest airport to land at to start Connecticut holidays is Bradley International Airport. The airport is relatively near to Hartford and Springfield (Massachusetts). Visitors can also arrive in Connecticut via the Bridgeport-Port Jefferson Ferry which runs from Port Jefferson to Bridgeport. Connecticut is on Eastern Standard Time which puts it five hours behind GMT. Connecticut is a moderately sunny part of the United States, but does experience spectacular summer thunderstorms.
Beaches to visit on Connecticut Holidays
Connecticut shoreline along Long Island Sound has a selection of saltwater beaches. The largest in the Fairfield/Southwest region is the 33 acre-long Calf Pasture Beach which has volleyball courts and miniature golf courses. Among the more popular beaches in the Mystic/Eastern region of Connecticut is the Ocean Beach Park. It is a 50 acre park which includes a mini-golf course and a freshwater pool.
Connecticut City Destinations
In Hartford visitors can explore the numerous museums such as the Museum of Connecticut History at Capital Avenue. Take a tour of Sheffield Island Lighthouse at the entrance of Norwalk Harbour. Tours of the lighthouse are included in the ferry trip. The Connecticut Science Centre in Hartford is a nine-story high science museum which includes video and audio exhibits. Bridgeport includes the Klein Memorial Auditorium where the Greater Bridgeport Symphony usually performs. In Norwalk there is also the The Maritime Aquarium which is home to species of sharks, sea lions and otters.
