Perched right in the middle of Lanzarote's east coast, Costa Teguise is a pretty, purpose-built resort which was created in traditional Canarian style to keep wealthy Spaniards amused and entertained (it's fair to say it achieved its aims wonderfully as the King of Spain still has a holiday home here). However, it's not just Iberian elites and Spanish royals who appreciate the relaxed, friendly atmosphere and super sandy beaches of the resort; families too love Costa Teguise holidays as the sheltered beaches, shallow waters, plentiful kids clubs, fun parks and child-friendly restaurants (many of which offer free children's meals in the early evening) ensure parents visiting with little ones are always well catered for.
Costa Teguise's location within the Canary Islands is also a boon for families. With average temperatures rarely dropping below 20 °C (even in the winter) and quick and plentiful flights available from a whole host of regional UK airports, Costa Teguise is an easy place to get to all throughout the year. Furthermore, the fact that Lanzarote is a relatively small island means airport transfers to and from the resort are reassuringly short (normally between 15-30 minutes).
Few resorts are as geared up to keep kids happy as Costa Teguise. Kids’ activity parks are to be found on the bigger beaches, such as Playa de Jablillo, as well as soft play areas and bowling alleys on Playa Bastian. Away from the sand, there is a waterpark which has more than enough slides, flumes, lakes, rivers and pools to keep high energy kids and gung-ho adults amused for a full day (try the 'Kamikaze' – it's epic!). A trip to the island's cosmopolitan capital, Arrecife or an excursion to see Lanzarote's volcanic landscape up close are both good value.
