Lake Buena Vista is a Florida municipality about 21 miles to the south of Downtown Orlando. Disney owns the region which is a part of the Orlando 'Kissimmee' Sanford area, it is the home of the Walt Disney World Resort which is famous for its world-class theme parks.
The most obvious landing point for Lake Buena Vista holidays is that of Orlando International Airport about 20 miles from Lake Buena. Visitors staying at the Disney World Resort can reach Lake Buena Vista via Disney's free Magical Express transport from the airport. Note that Florida is five hours behind GMT. As most of Lake Buena Vista's annual rainfall is in the summer months spring or fall could be better times to visit.
The theme parks of the Disney World Resort dominate Lake Buena Vista. The Magic Kingdom is the main park dedicated to Disney's unforgettable films and characters. The park includes the Snow White Cinderella Castle and a range of Disney themed rides such as the Space Mountain rollercoaster. Epcot is a science theme park and is represented by the Spaceship Earth sphere. Disney's Hollywood Studios is a park themed around film and TV. It stages a variety of live shows based on iconic Hollywood productions. The Animal Kingdom is a large zoo with a variety of wildlife. Visitors can also make a splash at Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach water parks.
Aside from theme parks there are four 18-hole golf courses in Lake Buena Vista such as Oak Ridge, Osprey Ridge and Oak Trail. Fantasia Gardens has a couple of miniature golf courses based on the Fantasia film. At Downtown Disney's West Side visitors should not miss La Nouba, a free-standing circus theatre presented by Cirque du Soleil. The extensive waterways of Lake Buena Vista are also ideal for watersports such as water skiing and wakeboarding.
